Shrimpfest 2010

Seadrift, Texas celebrated 30 years of Shrimpfest on beautiful San Antonio Bay on June 11th & 12th 2010.

One of the largest events hosted annually by the Seadrift Chamber of Commerce is Shrimpfest. Seadrifters and its visitors have been celebrating Shrimpfest for about 30 years. Shrimpfest is normally scheduled for the second weekend in June. Adults that grew up in Seadrift always migrate back and hold fond memories of the event.

"This years Shrimpfest celebrating 30 years was a success. The Chamber was grateful to have The Seadrift Lions Club, the local 4-Club and the Friends of the Seadrift Library offering their services as well as all of the the individual volunteers who put in countless hours to pull this off. Great job by everyone involved, it is a lot of work and the Chamber was so happy to have you. I especially would like to thank our Chamber President, Cindy Alford for all she has done for the Chamber since she became president." said Seadrift Chamber Treasurer, Debbie Dugan.

The event is all about family fun! Chamber member, Helon Leop said, "I met three different groups from Austin and I know there were people from other places."

Annual festivities include; shrimp eating contests, beauty pageants, tin boat races and multiple tournaments. Tourneys include: softball, kid’s fishing, volleyball and the ever popular horseshoes and washers.

Margaret Chatham, in charge of vendor booths, reported over 55 booths had signed up by the week of Shrimpfest. "We had people coming from Abilene, Bandera and as far as Waco.

This year Chamber members started a Facebook page, Shrimpfest Seadrift, TX and it took off like a wild fire! With over 700 fans signed up by the week of Shrimpfest, members saw it as a good sign of what was to follow. Indeed, the Seadrift Chamber quickly sold out of 30th Anniversary shirts, caps and had only a hand full of koozies left.

Facebook fan, Rebecca Ellard posted online, Oh must say that this years Miss Bayrat was the best Yet! Awesome job by the Contestants! I was ROLLING Laughing."

SPECIAL THANKS to all that worked round the clock to make this event happen. The Seadrift Chamber of Commerce strives to offer members and local businesses continued improvements year after year. We invite you to become an active member of the Seadrift Chamber of Commerce and help accomplish our goals. Make sure to keep visiting the website and FaceBook page to find out what's going on in our small town.

A look back at Shrimpfest 2009:
The Seadrift Chamber of Commerce website reached over 200 daily visitors the week of the event in 2009. People were tracked from Forth Worth all the way to Brownsville and several hits were recorded from out of state. Chamber President, Cindy Alford stated, "We implemented multiple improvements and focused on promoting Shrimpfest 2009. Active members definitely got momentum going!" The most popular page on the site was information regarding Shrimpfest, following close behind, the Business page which proves it is important to be apart of the Seadrift Chamber of Commerce. Kenny Finster, County Commissioner from Precinct 4 commented, "I was navigating to the page frequently and looked forward to receiving press releases and more information about the event."

Let the games begin! Kids of all ages enjoyed the games hosted by the Seadrift Chamber of Commerce.

We would love to be a food vendor for your event. We are out of Victoria. We have a BBQ restaurant and 2 concession trailers. What we serve would depend on which trailer. Would love to do BBQ, trash can taters, sausage on a stick and more with the larger trailer. Look forward to hearing from you. Velda Maddox 361=894=5553
